IV TESTING OF CONCENTRATION MODULES AND CELLS WITH NON-UNIFORM LIGHT PATTERNS

A measurement equipment for electrical characterisation of PV concentration cells and modules has been successfully developed. The system, based on a commercial flash lamp, reaches irradiance level up to 2000 suns. Large uniform area has been obtained with collimators, being the uniform light area variable with the distance between lamp and devices under test, and consequently with the maximum irradiance level. This versatile equipment, called Ⅳ-100, is able to characterise many cells and modules of different technologies, with wide ranges of irradiance level and uniform illuminated area. Non-uniform light patterns have been obtained with masks. Photolithographic technology has provided excellent capability to reproduce many light patterns. Different light profiles have been reproduced by means of this technique. Characterisation of cells under non-uniform concentrated light has been started with this method and is in progress. Results and comparative analysis of first IV curves of a EUCLIDES concentration cell, measured with different light patterns, will be shown in this paper.
