Dye PV modules designed for low-power applications have shown good long-term stability at ambient conditions (light intensity < 5000 lux, temperature between ―10°C and 50°C, and relative humidity of appr. 50%). We here present our initial experiences in upgrading these low-power modules towards use in high-power outdoor applications. The applied manufacturing methods may be upgraded in size. The distance between adjacent elements has been decreased from 2.0 mm to 0.75 mm. Possibilities to obtain short-term and long-term improvements of the yield are discussed. A forecast of the costs related to large-volume production indicates a manufacturing cost between 7.5 and 12.7 $US per module of the size of 900 cm~2.
