How Fuel Quality Affects Emissions and Performance

Modern vehicles need modern fuel. In general this has meant ever increasing constraints on fuel. This is expected to continue. Lower quality fuel not only increases emissions; it degrades performance and can damage vehicles. China has removed lead from its gasoline much faster than other countries were able to. Reducing sulfur and olefins, and setting appropriate, seasonally adjusted volatility limits will make China's fuel suitable for the most advanced vehicles.
