摘要

The paper reviews the state of titanium production, technological developments, research, and titanium and its alloy applications in the CIS over the past 4-5 years. It is shown that after the 8-th World Conference on Titanium much work on the expansion of titanium production and the material quality certification has been done in the CIS. Titanium sponge (primary titanium) produced in the CIS meets the most stringent requirements at the world level. The CIS titanium production has entered the world market. Presented in the paper are data on some specific features of melting, shape casting and welding of large titanium structures. Special attention is paid to the conversion of titanium and its alloys into the CIS national economy. Some examples of the efficient use of titanium alloys designed for heat exchangers of transport nuclear power plants. It is shown that titanium and its alloys find the most profitable use in the marine engineering and petrochemical industries.
