The present work is a contribution in MDO software framework developmetn. Starting from general requirements for a collaborative MDO environment, the paper focuses on database and architectural requirements in order to allow a consistent, flexible and reliable manipulation of the design data with the goal of having a direct impact on the availability, validity and integrity of the data used by the engineers. The proposed framework is designed using an object-oriented component approach and uses distributed client-server technologies.
