The ability to predict the beahvior of fire allows a great opportunity for prevention of loss of life and property. Many computer models have been created inthe last several decades to predict the behavior of fires under various circumstances and conditions. Fires in compartments, such as rooms or buildings, are of particular interest since these are the fires that are most likely to result in losses. In the case of a compartment fire, it is not only the actual growth an spread offire that is of importance, but also the interaction between the fire and the structurla members of the compartment.
