Due to the high population density in Denmark, noise from shooting ranges is subject to noise regulations. The Danish Shooting Association and DELTA Acoustics & Vibration have investigated the effect of using shooting blinds and extended firing sheds to reduce the noise from shooting ranges. It turned out that although shooting blinds do not have the properties of a screen, a considerable reduction could be obtained in the shooting direction by a combination of relatively low security mounds and 2-3 shooting blinds. The extended firing sheds, too, can give a reduction in the shooting direction increasing with the angle to the shooting direction. Neither of these measures reduces the bullet noise from supersonic bullets.
