Thick films of nanostructured SnO_2, TiO_2, In_2O_3 and La/SmFeO_3 have been manufactured by screen-printing technology starting from commercial or laboratory prepared powders. The main result of this work is to evidentiate that thick film sensors exhibit adequate properties for atmospheric environmental monitoring provided that the physical and microstructural properties of the materials are suitably correlated to the required electrical features. In order to perform test in field the sensors have been placed in an array and exposed to real atmosphere measuring the change in conductivity. The electrical response has been compared with the results obtained by the analytical equipments with the methods approved by the international standards.
