Cruising Equipment has extensive "real-world" experience developing precision battery SOC and rapid charging technology in the marine, RV and industrial markets. The marine experience in particular provides key lessons in system design and integration. Marine electrical system design, especially aboard offshore cruising sailboats, begins with a load analysis. This drives the battery bank size, which in turn identifies the appropriate size charging system. In addition, design of marine systems routinely involves amp-hour instrumentation plus multiple stage alternator regulation and voltage controlled battery switching1. This proven design methodology is directly applicable to military system design.
