Results from a study based on the application of computational fluid dynamics techniques are compared to those from in vivo measurements performed by means of magnetic resonance with regard to the total cavopulmonary connection. The distribution of the blood flow in the pulmonary arteries, which depends on the geometry of the surgical reconstruction, was analysed quantitatively with both techniques on a single patient.
