A Method of Calculating Transmitted Power of Mobiles in Sectored Cellular CDMA System under Imperfect Power Control

A method that uses a set of linear equations to compute the mobile transmitted power in a sectored cellular CDMA system reverse link under imperfect power control is proposed. The received signal to interference plus noise density ratio (SNIR) is assumed to be a random variable with lognormal distribution after power control. The total interference above the noise level is calculated for different values of the standard deviation of the received SNIR due to imperfect power control. This method can be used in determining the IS-95 CDMA system cell coverage, the Er-lang capacity, and the system loading capability.
