The 35-acre Nascolite Corporation Superfund Site (Nascolite) is located near MIllville, New Jersey. The first Operable Unit remedial alternative consists of groundwater extraction with on-site treatment and reinjection of the treated effluent. Groundwater at the site was contaminated with a number of volatile and semi-volatile organics, including methyl methacrylate at ppm concentrations. Several metals were also present at elevated concentrations. In accordance with the approved Remedial Design Work Plan (RDWP), dated October 1993, a pilot field study was conducted from November 1993 through May 1994 to evaluate groundwater treatment technologies for development of remedial design information for a groudnwater treatment system to treat up to 305 gpm.
