In preparing one of these summary talks one is inevitably drawn to a comparison of the meeting in question with its immediate predecessor. In his summary of the physics at ICPA 9, Professor A Seeger suggested (by implication) that a reduction in the number of papers accepted for these triennial conferences might not be a bad thing. Somebody heard! The proceedings of ICPA 9 include 11 invited and more than 50 contributed papers on various aspects of ACAR and electronic structure. The comparative figures for this meeting are 7 and 25. Within that reduced set we can find many of the traditional themes and a few new ones.
