摘要

A theoretical hypothesis that electric potential on glass surface plays an important role during the process of water etching is proposed, which is derived from the glass-etching mechanism. Based on this hypothesis, a solution containing high valence cations is used to treat the surface of glass. This method improves electric potential on the treated surface, forming a positive electric potential barrier which prevents diffusion of H~+ in water and Na~+ in glass. Therefor, water resistance of glass is improved.
