SCE&G has not made the final determination of what specific approach it will ultimately take for SO_2 reduction. Dates by which scrubber commitments must be made have not yet arrived. The company is looking more in-depth into the allowance market. Fuel switching to compliance coal and gas continue to appear to be cost prohibitive. Therefore, some combination of scrubbing and allowances appear viable. It may be prudent to delay scrubbing to see what develops in scrubbing technology or cost of fuel switching or allowances. SCE&G will keep all options open and continue to update studies as new information evolves until convinced that capital investment must be made.
