Eigenvalue decomposition has found many practical applications in signal processing and analysis of EEG. Among others, the eigenvalue spectrum can be used to detect meaningful changes in cortical correlation patterns. In this paper, time-varying multichannel correlation analysis was applied to measurements obtained during propofol anesthesia. The time evolution of the eigenspectrum was found to follow the progress of sedation in a group of 10 anesthetized subjects.
