Static neutralization of rolls at unwind and rewind stations

The paper examines static electricity generation in unwind and rewind applications, including associated hazards. The variety of rewinder designs, changing roll diameters, web angles, and roll transfers all make successful application of static neutralizers in unwind and rewind operations a challenge. An analytical model for evaluation of static neutralizing applications is presented and application guidelines for static neutralizing bars are proposed. Several case studies are presented and experimental curves of static neutralizing conditions are analyzed.
