摘要

The paper will pursue considerations about the "rational use of simulation" (cf. Salas et al. [1]) from a human error and training point of view (cf. Mehl & Rahn [2]). It's aim is methodological as well as empirical. Simulation is viewed as a rational training and diagnostic instrument. To this aim a procedure is presented, which records handling data from persons of various levels of competence in the course of training simulations. In due course the gathered sets of data are categorized into good and poor performances in coping with the task at hand. Using statistical methods characteristic values of high and low levels of competence are attained in addition to handling parameters closely related to such good or poor performance. This diagnosis of individual competences may on the one hand be utilized when choosing training contents appropriate for specific trainees and on the other hand in controlling the training procedure itself.
