A multi-level topology is one of the effective approaches to improve the efficiency of power converters. The authors had developed and already presented a 50-kVA UPS using Ad-vanced Neutral-Point–Clamped (A-NPC) topology,which utili es Reverse-Blocking IGBT (RB-IGBT) as a bi-directional switch for clamping of its AC output to the DC neutral point. The A-NPC topology is simple and enables low conduction losses of the converters. This time, the authors develop a 1-MVA solar power inverters using A-NPC topology.In this paper, the power unit and control of the solar power inverters using A-NPC IGBT modules con-nected in parallel and the evaluation results are presented.
