Analysis of the display defect - white spots

The spotty uneven brightness, what is called the `white spot', is pretty small less than 0.5mm, but it causes significant problem on production. In this study, we have analyzed the white spot in the there is no particles (foreign matters), using both FT-IR microscope and microsampling mass spectrometer. We obtained the result that the more polyol and the more high-boiling liquid crystals are detected in abnormal (white spot) region than normal one in the interface between the liquid crystal and the alignment layer (PI film). The composition ratio of liquid crystal is different between abnormal and normal regions.
