Pyrolysis and Kinetics of Three Kinds of Straw Biomass under Different Atmospheres with Thermogravimetry

Thermogravimetric analysis was used to study the pyrolysis characteristics of three biomass samples (corn straw, wheat straw and cotton straw) in different streams of air, N2, H2, CO and CO2 at heating rates of 5 K/min. Meanwhile, the experimental and kinetics of TG and DTG profiles were compared. The results showed that under each atmosphere, the three biomass samples presented similar properties in general, while existed some differences due to diverse composition of organic and inorganic matters. Under different atmospheres, the thermogravimetric behaviors of each biomass sample were different, which were related to the range of decomposing temperatures. The activation energies were between 74 and 121 kJ/moL in the temperature range of 470-600 K by DAEM method and a main rule could be induced that the orders of activation energies under different atmospheres for three biomass samples were all followed: air
