Through the aspects of fluctuation of the observed surface,distribution of the real field source,location of the dipole layer and the number of the data,we studied the suitability,calculated accuracy and the calculated amount of the frequency-domain dipole layer method for the processing and transformation of the potential field on curved surface by using theoretical model.The theoretical model test results show that this method can be used for any distribution points observed surface.The accuracy of the processing and transformation results decrease while the slope of the observation surface and the distance on the discontinuous observation surface and the blank area on the blank observation surface and the altitude difference between measuring lines increase,abide by rules as linearly or quadratic plot.Therefor the depth and horizontal size of the field source have little effect oft the accuracy of the processing and transformation results.The more data amount and the more complex the observed surface,the more computation amount is required,but the single-point computation declines.By the model test,we considered the method cannot resolve the processing and transformation of the overlapping observation surface at present,and when the original data amount is huge,the computation is huge as well.
