Controller Emulation Technologythat prolongs existing Process Automation Applications

Quite a few numbers of Process Control Systems, including DCSs, were installed andhave been in operation for a fairly long period of time. Recently, such systems need be renewed withlatest hardware set of controllers, input and output subsystems, operator's consoles, and networksystems. Without these new hardware environments, the system will be severely damaged bysignificant failures and incidental accidents due to old, tired, and wear out components and hardwaresets. One of the biggest pending problems is that newer control systems will require newer controlprograms, that means more application programming, more system tests, longer period ofreplacement, and more cost. The Controller Emulation Technology can solve this kind of problems bykeeping and guaranteeing the original old control programs as it is. This paper introduces theemulation technology and a controller that has emulation functions.
