Progress of Nine Asian Countries on Radioactive Waste Management underFNCA (Forum for Nuclear Cooperation in Asia) Framework

摘要

To promote Asian regional corporation in nuclear science and technology, nine countries, Australia, China, Indonesia,Korea, Malaysia, The Philippines, Thailand, Japan, and Viet Nam (participate in IAEA as observers) are continuingcollaborating works under sponsorship of Japanese government and participating countries. The covering fields are; 1.Research reactor utilization, 2. Application for agriculture, 3. Application for medical care, 4. Industrial application, 5.Radioactive waste management (RWM), 6. Public information, 7. Nuclear safety culture, 8. Human resources development. Onradioactive waste management, information exchange and on-site survey and discussion had been continuing. The topicalissues are; spent radiation source management (SRSM), naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM), decommissioningand clearance etc. Joining usual activities of RWM to these topical issues, a consolidated report on RWM in FNCA countrieswere edited and published. This report will become a promotion document of Joint convention of spent fuel and radioactivewaste safe management. RWM activities under FNCA countries are published as newsletters for communication two timesper year. These activities are summarized in this paper.
