High level angiographic image analyses systems like those for 3-D reconstruction of entire vascular trees require proper corrections of geometric image distortions. Due to the fact that distortion patterns are not static, a dynamic image rectification method has to be applied for each different angulation. The authors aimed to avoid major impairment of the clinical routine, using minimal information as reference only. Since the coefficients of the correction polynomial highly correlate with the basic image rotation, the authors' method reliably eliminates geometric distortions even for intermediate angulations without the need of separate grid imaging.
