摘要

Galloping of sleet-coated overhead lines is a continuing problem for many utilities. This paper describes an extensive field test program, funded by the Electric Power Research Institute, to define the capabilities of a recently developed detuning concept under a wide variety of field conditions. Sections of the paper deal with the theory of operation of a detuning device, the objectives of the program, selection of the test sites, the training of the observers for recording and reporting results and the experience to date.
