When assembling images of incoherent radiators sampled from different angles, three dimensional imaging has relied on recognizing the features in different images. If the goal is to produce a 3D model of the object, tomographic methods such as cone-beam reconstruction can produce high-quality models. Tomographic methods do not exactly apply to modeling of surface objects due to the opaque nature of typical objects and the inaccuracy of the pencil-line assumption of the point spread function (PSF).
