The state equations of material are important to discuss variant phenomena occurring in it. A special method of measurements on the state equation of a loose ultra-fine particle bulk has been developed in this paper. Experiments were conducted in a shock tube, where the interactions of shock waves and a surface of a dusty bulk were recorded by the shadow graphs and the pulsed X-ray shadow graphs with trace particles. The state equations can be determined according to the experimental results combined with the analytical formulas derived from the shock polar theory. As a sample, the state equation of a starch dusty bulk was measured, which was verified by more experiments. Calculated results based on the measured state equation are good agreement with experimental data.
