The reinforced plastics industry's drive towards lowering VOC emissions and obtaining higher performance composites has led to the development of new manufacturing techniques. The resin infusion molding process is one of the new techniques used to reduce VOC emissions and manufacture a composite typically with 60 - 80percent reinforcement. A database of the physical performance of these new composites and a comparison to the more common hand lay-up manufacturing techniques is lacking. This paper will compare the fatigue and static physical properties of plaques made with various resins using a vacuum assisted method and conventional lay-up method.
