CHARACTERISTIC LITHOFACIAL ZONES OFTHE MAIN DOLOMITE FORMATIONS INWESTERN POLAND IN THE CONTEXT OFEXISTING HYDROCARBONS FIELDS

Employing new technology used in seismic research, especially data processing,rnbrought about not only a considerable improvement in the quality of seismic record, but alsornlargely increased the amount of data available. This allows to follow closely the existence of,rnsometimes, very thin geological layers and defining their physical parameters as well. This isrncrucial since in hydrocarbon search in the Main Dolomite the interpreted structural elementsrndo not always mean the best reservoir qualities and therefore hydrocarbon accumulation.rnThis presentation summarises the results of analytical research on the basis of whichrnbig fields of oil and gas have been found recently in the Main Dolomite in north-west Poland.rnThe main geological and sedimental factors are analysed together with high prospectivity ofrnthe area in question Author's geological ideas thanks to which the discovery of other bigrnhydrocarbon fields in the Main Dolomite in the Polish part of Zechstein Basin can bernexpected are also presented here.
