摘要

Recently a fuel cell that uses hydrogen as a source of energy has been getting attention. However, it was revealed by our Rolling Four-Ball test under the EHL regime conducted prior to this report that hydrogen would dramatically decrease rolling fatigue life. This paper reports our investigation of the effect of passive films and phosphate films with a view to extending rolling fatigue life in hydrogen environment. The result of our investigation confirmed that both films were effective in extending rolling fatigue life by functioning as a fine protective film that prevents hydrogen from entering into the material.
