Sound Detection of Electric Vehicles by Blind or Visually Impaired Persons

At slow speed or when starting up, electrically powered vehicles or hybrid vehiclesoperated in electric mode are either silent, or produce very little noise, and as a result they aredifficult to notice for other road users (e.g. pedestrians). This is particularly true for mixed trafficinvolving multiple vehicles with either combustion engines and electric engines, and couldbecome a problem in terms of road safety, especially for the visually impaired.
