The authors discuss the performance pulse position modulationn(PPM) in an urban multipath environment. A computer simulation using thenSignal Processing Worksystem (SPW) was developed that implements annurban multipath channel and a PPM modem. Using SPW, the communicationsnperformance of the PPM waveform for this particular channel wasnexamined. By conducting Monte Carlo simulations with the SPW computernmodel, the average bit error performance of a PPM signal for the urbannmultipath channel was investigated with additive white Gaussian noise.nThe bit error performance of PPM was compared with and withoutnmultipath. Simulation runs were conducted using different values for thenaverage inter-arrival time and amplitude of the multipath signals, andnthe signal-to-noise ratio
