The combustion character of coal char in the carbon dioxide/oxygen combustion process was investigated and compared with the air (nitrogen/oxygen) combustion for the purpose of recycling carbon dioxide as exhaust gas. Therefore, the reaction rate, pore size distribution, and exhaust gas were determined in the temperature range of 973 ~ 1773K to examine combustion process of the coal due to the carbon dioxide gasification. As a result, in the early stages of combustion, the combustibility decreased with the influence of carbon monoxide, which occurred due to the gasification. But in the latter stages, the combustibility was raised by the increase of the cumulative volume of the pore as the concentration of carbon dioxide increased.
