Using fillers with high anisotropy of shape for polymer composites improves their mechanical and thermal properties significantly. The majority of fillers used in polymer composites have a very weak affinity for the polymer matrix, which makes it difficult to obtain composites of adequate quality, mostly due to phase separation and agglomeration of particles. Zinc diorganophosphates are promising class of compounds which may be used as additives in polymer composites, as they posses linear structures, high affinity to organic compounds and they consist of elements which do not raise objections on their possible cytotoxicity. In our work we synthesized both alkyl and aryl derivatives of zinc organophosphates. We had determined properties of pure compounds and their composites using FTIR, XRD, DSC, elemental analysis, ~1H and ~(31)P NMR spectra, TGA and X-ray single crystal measurements.
