The organic functional dyes with donor-π-acceptor (D-π-A) molecular structure have attracted more and more attention because of their application for photoelectronic materials. The carbazole molecule has planar conjugated system, good electron delocalization, stronger intramolecular charge transfer and excellent photovoltaic properties. Tricyanofuran (TCF) consists of three strong electron acceptor groups, was well adopted as a strong electron acceptor. It is helpful for improving photoelectric properties of the carbazole derivatives to link the TCF group and carbazole moiety using conjugated bridge. One kind of D-π-A dyes with hydroxyl group, named as Cz(OH)-TCF , using carbazole derivatives as donor, and TCF as an acceptor group, was successfully synthesized. The photoelectric properties of dyes were influenced by their intrinsic character as well as their aggregation structure. Calixarenes, are one kind of phenol-formaldehyde cyclic oligomers which have particular molecular structure, show considerable potential for photoelectronic applications. Here, the calixarene-based photoelectronic materials CRA-Cz-TCF was obtained by the esterization of Cz(OH)-TCF with Calix[4]resorcinarene (CRA) derivative.
