Mechanical Behavior of Concrete Filled GFRP-steel Tube under Cyclic Loading

For the purpose of investigating concrete filled GFRP (Glass FiberReinforced Polymer)-steel tube structure under combined seismicloading, 4 specimens of the same size with 1 or 2 GFRP layersorientated in different directions are studied experimentally by a quasistatictest system and the corresponding FE models simulating realexperimental process are established based on experimental results tocarry out further study by changing GFRP thickness, axial compressionrate and cross sectional steel ratio. The testing and analytical resultsshow that the technique of GFRP strengthening concrete filled steeltube is effective for the improvements in stiffness degradation andenergy dissipation of the structure, in spite of various responses relatedto the bonding styles of GFRP and the loadings modes.
