A New Study Domain: The Enterprise Project Management Body of Knowledge

The enterprise project management (EPM) is a popular topic in current international project management research. For carrying on the management by project, the enterprise needs to be well supported by the knowledge of project management. In order to realize a long-term development of an enterprise, a mechanism for accumulating the project management knowledge is necessary to be established. Accordingly, this paper proposes a concept, namely, "Enterprise Project Management Body of Knowledge" (E-PMBOK). It may effectively deal with the relationship between the project organization's temporary and the long-term development of an enterprise, and finally enhance the enterprise substantial competitive ability. This paper describes the current study that how to establish the pointed, practical and dynamic E-PMBOK. During the study, a new modularization structure based on the multi-dimensional knowledge classification has been designed upon the enterprise circumstance, some operational knowledge including management flows, the practical cases and so on are proposed, and the knowledge modules are also strict classified and standardization defined.
