This paper reports on an ongoing research project which aims to extend the current state of knowledge about HRM in project oriented companies. Project oriented companies differ from classically managed stable organizations and through this research we investigate if, and to what extent, the distinctive characteristics of project oriented companies, including the temporary nature of the work processes and the dynamic nature of the work environment, lead to the necessity for specific HR policies, processes and practices. In this paper we describe a review of the extant literature on the topic of HRM in Project oriented companies and then provide preliminary research findings from the research interviews conducted to date.
