In order to establish essential technology basis for realization of reusable space transportation systems and advanced supersonic/hypersonic airplanes, a small-scale supersonic flight experiment is planned in cooperation between universities and JAXA. A small-scale turbojet engine is designed preliminarily by a gasdynamical cycle analysis. Winged vehicle configurations are also designed and their aerodynamics are predicted preliminarily. Three-degree-of-freedom flight trajectory analysis reveals that an acceleration flight up to Mach 1.4 and a return flight are feasible. Related experimental facilities are being prepared.
