摘要

A simple method is proposed for extraction and spectrophotometric determination of Hg(II) at trace level using p-anisaldehyde phenyl-thiosemicarbazone (APT). Hg(II) forms yellow complex with the reagent which can be extracted into chloroform in 0.001 to 0.01N H_2SO_4 medium. The Hg(II)-APT complex shows absorption maximum at 370nm. The Beer's law is obeyed over the concentration range of 0.2 to 6.0 μg mL~(-1). The molar absorptivity and Sandell's sensitivity are 1.65x10~4 L mol~(-1) cm~(-1) and 12.22 ng mL~(-1) cm~(-2) respectively. The composition of the extracted species is 1:2 (M:L). The proposed method is rapid, reproducible, sensitive and has been applied for determination of Hg(II) in real samples as well as synthetic mixtures.
