摘要

Solvent extraction techniques play a vital role in the rare earth industry not only for the separation of individual rare earth components from one another but also in the separation of thorium and uranium. The Rare Earths Division (RED) of Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL) is using of solvent extraction techniques to separate rare earths and also produce high purity thorium and uranium compounds while processing monazite. This paper describes the salient features of the solvent extraction process and flow sheets adopted at RED for the separation of the above components.
