High-density nanocrystalline (n-) Cu was prepared by the gas deposition method and its mechanical property was studied. The anelastic responses found below room temperature were very similar to those reported in n-Au, indicating that strong anelastic processes in the grain boundary regions were activated in the temperature range more than 200 K. The underlying mechanism is discussed.
