Heat transfer characteristics of slug flow in the gravity heat pipe are complicated phenomena. The simplified analyses of it is presented here to get the quantitative correlations of the lift height of liquid slug carried by the vapor plug L_5, the volumetric flow and the pressures between two sides. Some calculations for experimental heat pipes were carried out to verify the correlations, and the agreement between the data and the predictions is good. The conclusion that heat pipes used for performance experiments are not suitable to work in the temperature beyond 200℃ was drawn. The analyses can be developed further to solve more complex problems.
