Electronic structure of carbon nanotubes produced by various techniqes was studied using an X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy. Multiwall nanotubes from the inner part of cathode deposit and those synthesized during a catalytic decomposition of hydrocarbons on emtallic particles. the ropers of single-wall nanotubes grown by laser and arc vaporization of metals doped graphite rods. were compared. The CKalpha spectra are accompanied by the quantum-chemical calculations of structural models. Observed spectral differences were interpreted by the distinctions in a tube construction like a relatively small diameter of single-wall carbon nmanotubes and a presence of sp~3 defects in catalytic multiwall nanotubes.
