Although salt bush plants (Atriplex) are halophytic, they are vulnerable to salt toxicity during the early stages of plant development. In the present work, we attempt to evaluate the impact of NaCl on the germination and growth of three Atriplex species from various geographic origins: indigenous (A. halimus) and introduced (A. nummularia and A. canescens). Among the species tested, the introduced ones showed increasing sensitivity to high NaCl concentrations, while A. halimus was very resistant.
