As a general observation the peat-industry treats its products as a commodity i.e. that it is not differentiated. That means that the market come close to perfect competition and the price is more or less determined by demand and supply volumes. That, in turn, brings a rather huge customer surplus for the buyers. To take part of the surplus peat-producers must differentiate their products. They can do that through a better knowledge about the functioning of different sort of peat and estimate the final value of it. That will also cause a better use of different sort of peat.
