A PRIMA FACIE CASE FOR THE SUSTAINABLE USE OF PEAT IN THE REPUBLIC OF KARELIA

摘要

This paper describes the existing heating regime in Karelia and outlines the abundant resources of peat that could be exploited. It proposes that investing in district heating renovation in Karelia coupled with investment in peat fuel supply would be environmentally and economically beneficial both to a potential external investor utilising Joint Implementation as well as to the local communities that would benefit from such developments.
