Styrenic Block Copolymers for Elastic Fabrics and Yarns

Styrene block copolymers can be designed for high speed spinning processes to make elastic fabrics and yarns as bicomponent fibers. Molecule design and elastic properties play a pivotal role in determining how well the polymers spin and whether the fabric will be elastic. There are several Kraton polymer grades that are currently available in commercial quantities for spunbond and melt blown applications. Future presentations and papers will include a discussion of elastic melt blown polymer grades and fabrics.
