This paper examines the experimental results measured during forced rolling trials in calm water onboard the frigate F330, and during free rolling trials in rough weather onboard the frigate F331. Both are presented and compared with ship motion predictions. It is shown that unstabilised ship motions in waves could be represented theoretically with reasonable accuracy, making use of a strip theory code. Moreover, it was possible to identify control law sensitivities and open loop parameters of the active roll stabilisation system that have been used on a simple linear model to predict stabilised roll motion.
